Brooklyn Brewery - Brown Ale

So I was out last night for Big Ass Beer night at a local bar. Originally tried to order a Real Ale Brewing Anniversary Ale, but they had just kicked the keg... asked if they had any Real Ale Coffee Porter, and sadly they did not...

But... the bartendress said that if I am looking for some of those coffee porter flavors I may want to try the Brooklyn Brown on tap. Brooklyn Beers are relatively new in my area (Houston) and I'm skeptical about American Brown Ales, but I decided to give it a shot...

Sweet mother that beer is fantastic!

The bartendress was right... some nice roasty flavors with some subtle coffee in the background. And the beer had just the right amount of body to make it smooth without being overly sweet or syrupy.

I was REALLY impressed. So much so that I went on their website and dropped them an email to let them know about it. I guess Oliver Garrett knows what he is doing, after all..

(Sidenote: How cool is it that a bartendress in Houston actually knew something about beer other than, "Umm... it's dark.")
