Malheur Dark Brut

Sat Jun 13, 2009 2:24 am

My uncle, a non-beer drinker was given a bottle of this and a few other gems by someone last year, and have been sitting in his fridge ever since. Last night he gave it to me knowing it would not go unappreciated.

Apparently this is a very rare, expensive bottle of beer. Though somehow I have never heard of it (thus possibly validating the claims of rarity). It has been aging for a few years in a fridge, so must be in pretty prime shape :pop

I haven't tried it yet, but am going to do so here soon. Has anyone else here tried it? This is not a style I'm familiar with, so I just want to make sure I can really appreciate it once it's poured. If you have an experience with it, share it here so I can go in with some idea

Ive had it a couple of times and it is excellent. Its a real beer geek beer.....made in the same manner as champagne if I remember correctly. Some of my non beer friends who dont like belgian ales where not into it but I love it. Make sure to drink with a friend cuz it'll kick your ass.
