Elliot Bay Brewing Co.

Sat Nov 01, 2008 5:51 am

Just had some unexpected time off near SEATAC and dropped in at Elliot Bay Brewing Co in Burien, WA. Awesome. 24 taps (3-guest taps, 2 cask, 1 nitro) and a lot of organic brews along with good food. The staff was REALLY friendly and seemed very knowledgeable about their beers. One of the co-owners was there and he hung out and talked to me for a while as well as poured me a few samples. Stand-out beers included their Belgian IPA, Pumpkin Beer (on nitro), and the Black Belgian.

Great place, great folks.

I just wanted to get the word out to the Army.

You may remember the Octoberfest we had of theirs at that brew fest in Seattle. You know... the one with diacetyl and a few other off-flavors.

Correction... that was Diamond Knot. My apologies to Eliot Bay.

Yes, I remember that "beer" well. <shudder/>

Yes, Tim, sorry we couldn't get together this trip.
Any ideas when you will be in town again?

I've been there twice and each time I have been disappointed. I think they make very clean beers, but I was surprised by the overall lack of depth. I don't think that I have had the chance to try their Belgian brews however.
I am very glad that they came to Burien, they really started to turn that downtown area around for the better and it's a cool restaurant environment. I'm just not a fan of their beer.
The only beer that I thought ALMOST had enough depth of flavor was their "strong" ale. I should give them another try though.
Live and Learn. Then get drunk and forget it all.
