Greetings Fellow BN Brewers,
I'm a new Forum member, so fresh in fact, that I've yet to upload an avatar. But no matter! Getting to the point: I'm a Green Flash Junkie. The West Coast IPA makes winter in Charlottesville seem a tad greener, a bit sunnier. Anyhoo, I've been playing with a Green Flash West Coast IPA and want to post my recipe, lets say, as a prediction for what may come on Jamil's Clone show. Whether its on the money or not, its fun to guess. I can vouch for the validity and spunk of this brew, I've cold crashed the dry-hopped gunk and am siphoning off the uncarbonated beer with a straw...

Green Flash West Coast IPA
12 LBS American 2-Row Malt
2 LBS Maris Otter Malt
1 LB Carastan Malt 30L (English Crystal) Guaranteed that GF uses it!
.25 Victory or Biscuit Malt
.5 Carapils Malt
.5 Wheat Malt Malt
1 oz Warrior (15.5AA) @ 90m
.5 oz Simcoe (11.9AA) @ 45m
.5 oz Centennial (9.1AA) @ 30m
1 oz Cascade (6.3AA) @ 0m (Flameout) Steep for 5 minutes before rapid chilling
.5 oz Simcoe (11.9 AA) @ 0m (Flameout) Steep for 5 minutes before rapid chilling
1 oz Columbus (12.2AA) Dry Hop in Secondary for 48 hours at 65F
1 oz Centennial (9.1AA) Dry Hop in Secondary for 48 hours at 65F
.5 oz Simcoe (11.9AA) Dry Hop in Secondary for 48 hours at 65F

Green Flash uses 2.66 oz of dry hops per 5 gallons. My variation calls for 2.5 oz. Feel free to bump it up. Green Flash also drops the temperature during dry-hopping. Search the BN and MB forums and you will find out more about GF's precise dry-hopping technique from a member called "Saco de Toro". Bull nuts?

Mash at 150.
Ferment with Chico Strain at 69F.
Straight up delicious.
