I don't remember the episode, but JZ was tasting a slightly overhopped Marzen made by Tasty. Any chance someone would post the recipe? I've made a few versions, including JZ's, but was never satisfied.

Thanks!

That Marzen was made with the recipe from Jamil's book. The only twist was I used organic ingredients and I also miscalculated the IBUs. I've found that lower gravity lager recipes have to be tweaked to match your equipment and process. I'm giving JZ another shot.

somewhat related note: I did jamil's oktoberfest/marzen recipe and would like to add a touch more hop flavor but only have sterling and liberty to use. any drawbacks to using one of those as opposed to a noble hop aside from the obvious flavor differences?

I've loved everything I've made with liberty, and been displeased with everything I've made with Sterling. I find Liberty to be a great Hallertau sub and would use it gladly in an O'fest. In fact, I just did about a month ago!
