3 - Evil twin with 10 ibu bittering @ 60 minutes.

The recipe calls for 2.5 oz each of Centennial and Amarillo. I always buy hops in 1 oz increments and wondered what to do with the extra half oz of each. I suppose a 60 min addition would be in order. Would that be around 10 IBU though?

I recently brewed this and kegged it yesterday. Followed the recipe exactly and added my extra hops (1 oz. total, split between the two) to the mash. Possibly a few more IBU points. It tastes GREAT now.

I'm a huge fan of a great amber ale, and I love both of these recipes. I have a west coast blaster finishing fermentation now.

The best part about that beer is that no matter who tries it, they really love it - my wife, friends and neighbors all ask for me to make it when I don't have it available.

Thought I'd update on this comp. I ended up brewing the evil twin recipe with an additional 10 or so IBUs coming from a columbus addition at 60 minutes. Great tasting beer! I almost wanted to drink it all myself!

Ended up scoring a 40. Tied for second by the points. Two guys got 42s and someone else got a 40 as well. The top 11 beers move on to a public tasting this Sunday. Winner by popular vote gets their beer brewed by the brewery.
