Re: Recipe for 100th Batch

For my 100th I thought through some of those same ideas, and all of them I think are great ideas. I decided to go a different direction though. I went through my brew notes and dug up my first recipe that I ever did. It was an extract batch and an English IPA more or less for a style. I made it all grain and tweaked it a little bit since a couple of the hops were not available and made that my 100th beer. It was kind of fun to look back at the old recipe and see how my methods of brewing have changed over time.

THAT is a great idea. I'm brewing #95 with JP (SWEET!) this weekend so my Centennial brew approaches too.

I like the idea of revisiting your first beer, but I personally would want it to be a beer that could age out for a long time. I think that I would go for the imperial stout with sugar doses though, that might be fantastic in 2-3 years.

Here's what I've got so far. I'm going to try and brew it next weekend. It's mostly JZ's Imperial Stout recipe from BCS, but tweaked a bit. I liked the Centennial hops suggestion so I subbed that for the 1min EKG addition. I also added a ton of sugar and plan on doing twice-daily additions ala Paxton's DFH 120 clone. OG is around 1.100(get it?!?) before the sugar additions.

Opinions? Suggestions? BTW, I am totally fine with aging this for a year before it's drinkable ;)
