Re: Mac & Jack's African Amber Clone

This beer is fantastic! I've never had the original but my version is so fucking good!

I was leery about the MO and the citrusy hops but what a very nice complexity and flavor profile these 2 create together.

The Taphouse in Bellevue has the Amber and their Porter. I really like their porter and wheat beer. After having some of the other IPA offerings out there I don't know if I'd recommend their IPA- it's been a while so I can't give specifics but I remember that it wasn't what I expected.

One thing I though was odd what that they dry hop in the barrel. They take a hop bag with 1oz of Cascade stapled to the bung. The dry hop stays with the beer until the keg is returned. I heard that and was curious if it could have some negative impact to the flavor in the long run. In my IIPA partially based on Jamil's IIPA I dryhopped with 3oz of Amarillo and racked after 4 days. I know it's different proportionatly but I think there has to be some vegetative impact after 2 weeks in the barrel.
