Re: What have i brewed?

Yea my hydrometer is just fine the water was 1.000, I pitched onto an active yeast cake if that has any thing to do with higher attenuation? I was reading on HB forum that i may have an contaminate, well at least that would kinds make sense of the whole situation, so now i got a no pants fermentation going on, add that to the notes, which saddens me in ways that only the denver broncos were able to do this year.

But yea,

so one of my bottles didn't seal properly, this was noticed at the very end bottling, im happy to report the rest of my bottle's are just fine. I took the poorly capped one and chilled it, drank half and used the rest for cooking. I'm just a bit shy of the color I wanted, maybe a little crystal 80 next time. Im tasting both hops and am getting some good toasted notes but very little malt, danm 1.001, wonder what how carbonation will change it. (after i listed to what brew strong has to say)

Cheers

were there any indications in the flavor/aroma that might have pointed out an infection? rubberbands/band aids/sour notes/tart/ etc?

There is a chance.... with it finishing at 1.001.... that you have some type of infection, but maybe the yeast cake just ripped through it. Depends on your mash temp too... if you mashed below 149-150, you probably made a highly fermentable wort.

If you notice anything off beat about the flavor, drink that shit up as fast as you can, and rebrew it! :aaron

Well did some tastes today it took forever to carbonate. any way so im not sure what a 1.001 beer should taste like (zero malt) well there is for sure some malt flavour. The roasted barley really contributes to the flavor. The cascade is blends well with the roasted malt as its like having a toasted cascadeness,
Style catagory: No Pants ALe (NPA)
and finishes this way in the mouth. the remaining taste inthe mouth after a minute is a step down from what guiness leaves behind. I think i would cut back on the roasted barley next time as you dont really want to drink alot of it.
