I never get tired of hearing "my wife likes it". That's so much what this beer is about. :)

I recently picked up BCS and I just ordered the supplies to make Janet's Brown. Lots of it, too. I have been makin and drinkin alot of brown ale and I cant wait to try this one. I bouht a sack of 2row and all of the other malts and hops to make 4, batches of it. I am oin to follow the recipe ver batum.
A couple questions, thouh. I will be doin it all-rain, and it says to "reduce the 60 northern brewer by .75 oz and in addition add 1 oz to the mash.
So, 1.25 oz Northern brewer hops @ 60 and 1 oz in the mash? Am Im understandin this correctly? Also, all I could et is northern brewer leaf hops. Any adjustments need to be made to account for that, as well?
Thanks, Tasty! I am really lookin forward to makin this and drinkin it and havin it around for a lon time to come!
Now if only my new keyboard would show up!

Made JBA again, but this time used WLP002 instead of 1056 or Pacman like I have in the past. Fermented on the cold side at 62F for the first three days to keep it as clean as possible given the english yeast. Still makes a great beer. I will have to suspend judgement on which version I like better until this beer matures. Last time I think it was about 5-6 weeks in the keg when I thought the JBA was at its best, so a few more weeks to wait.

Brewed this up, nigh on 8 weeks or so ago as a partial mash with Columbus as a sub for northern brewer (couldn't get that hop) and Tasty you were right about needing 8 weeks or so, this beer continues to blow me away with its amazing flavor and aroma. I can't walk by the keezer without pulling at least a few ounces prior to pulling a real pint.

Anyway great recipe, and although you don't need me to tell you, the timeline is dead on for this beer. The roasted character comes through much later for this beer. Thanks again!

Just racked my first batch (10 gallons) going to dry hop today. Hit gravity. Tasted great at this green stage. Can't wait.

I'll be subbing Chinook for the Northern Brewer. How is Ahtanum for a Cascade replacement?
