Thanks for sharing this recepie with us. I'm brewing it today. I really like how the toasted oats taste. I can't wait to taste the beer!

cheers,

I hope you like it. Just make sure you don't over do the spices. Add a little of the spiced bourbon at a time until it seems like you are just short of where you want it. After you drink a few pints over the next couple days, you can then decide whether to add more.

I have had several samples sent to me over the past year and about half of them had just a little too much spice.

I recently rebrewed this one. I ended up adding all the spices again even though last time I did that it came out over-spiced. The tincture I made this time seemed to be less spicy. The end result is much more subtle this time around. I am again it right now with 1 oz. of heavy toast french oak cubes in an attempt to bring out the raisin character a bit more. This will be going to a competition with at Lazlo's/Empyrean with an first place prize of being brewed there.

I brewed that one for Beer Quest last year. Ended up in second place by a close margin. The women loved it and about half the guys hated it. You will probably hear comments about my beer from the Lincoln Lager folks that will be there.

Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the case, but when I heard the category for this one, this is the first beer that popped into my head. You should come out to the tasting. I'd love to hear your impression of my version. :)

This is going to be my Christmas beer, so I am following the "Winter Warmerized" instructions. I'll send you a couple, Bug.

If you come up with a spare guest ticket, I'll take you up on that.
