pumpkin pie?

In a past episode of The Session, Doc suggested putting a whole pumpkin pie to get the proper favour for a pumpkin ale.
Should the pie be reheated to kill off any bugs before I cram it into my secondary?

I cut mine into sections, roasted it in a 350F oven in a small amount of water for 30 min ( I think ) and scrapped it into my mash.

on a side note here is what I do...60 oz of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) and in the secondary I make a spice tea w/ pampered chef's "Cinnamon plus" which is a mixture of allspice, clove, cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel ground up into a powder. You can also use pumpkin pie spice...
