Has anyone made this.....

Fri Nov 14, 2008 10:06 am

I just picked up Extreme Brewing by Sam Calagione from the library and saw a recipe for a kiwi wit. It's an extract recipe and I would convert to AG. If anyone has made this I would like their feedback on it. Thanks

Sorry for the thread hijack... but your "Dr. Bunsen Honeydew" avatar makes me think of my old high school chemistry teacher - Mr. Abraham. The legend is that Jim Hensen's daughter went to my high school (years before me), and that Honeydew was modeled after him. His looks and mannerisms were identical.

Unfortunately, he didn't have an assistant like Beaker...

Are you sure Beaker wasn't modeled after someone else that took that class? Maybe a few years after his daughter? By the name of Mylo? :D

ok...back to the topic :)

This is the first (maybe second, can't remember exactly) recipe I made from that book. If you are really interested I converted it to AG, and can get the recipe for you in a day or two.
This beer came out great, and was excellent when fresh....after about 4-6 months in the bottle it started to loose something, not spoiled, but just not as good. So I drank it quickly
to properly dispose of the last few bottles.

I had a few freinds try it and while not all like fruit beer, the comments were generally good. It is VERY fruity, the kiwi came through in the taste and aroma much more than I expected it to.

Anyhow...reply here, or PM me if you want more info....I would be happy to share my version.
