According to the yeast show you can drop WLP 001 to 55 Deg. while actively fermenting, then when it slows up raise the temp. to 65 deg. or so. Has any one tried this yet? and what benefits have you seen?

Yeast tend to hate temp drops, especially fast temp drops. One of the best ways to clear out your beer is to flash cool it. The yeast floc out and you are left with clear beer. Screwing around with fluctuating your temps like this will only cause the yeast to floc out and you will be left with a sweet unfinished beer.
It is much better to maintain your temp in a tight little range.
