HELP with hop suplamentation....

I thought I has some EK Golding in stock for my 70 shilling beer. I don't.... :( . The recipy calls for 1.17 oz of 5% for 60 Min for 11 G. Here is what I have to work with, Centennial (9.4), Amarillo (8.4) Cascade (5.3) Newport (11.9) OR Chinook (at 12.3)

I am not to the point where I know to much about hops so I need to know wich one, the quanty and time. I know enough to think the Cascade won't be the right one...... but out of the others I have no clue..

Thanks
Tim

Tim,
None of those are a suitable substitution for EKG. I would suggest picking one and setting the dose amount to acheive a similar IBU contribution to what the EKG would have added. The flavor profile will not be the same but unless you are entering in a comp the brew should be more than palatable. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you chose and how it tastes.

Based on Lufah's link, I'd use the Newport. subs include Galena, Fuggle, and Brewer's Gold; all of which I've used in English ales before.

None will be a true sub for EKGs, though - I don't think there exists a real sub for that one!

All times are UTC - 8 hours
