So, I've just finished a Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale. Im still a bit meh about the black IPA style but I enjoyed this beer very much, a lot of interesting flavours going on.
Now there is a flavour going on, which I've get in other Stone beers, perhaps more so in other beers, it reminds me of turkish delight. Its like a sweet rose watery flavour. Is that the interplay of hops with the sweetness of the malt? is it a specific hop flavour? House yeast? All of the above? Its a flavour I've definately had from Stone before, maybe a few other American IPAs.

Does anyone get what I mean? Would love to track down what contributes to this flavour

It could be phenyl ethyl alcohol, the primary alcohol in rose oil that gives roses the rose flavour.
