WLP001 at 50F

Has anyone used WLP001 or WY1056 at such low temps with success? 50F ambient right now in the garage, so say 55F in conical at middle of wort/beer.

Bubbling good so far, after 3 days.

I hate off flavors (Esters/Fusels) produced from hot fermentation. Experimenting with colder side fermentations.

Thanks.

I havent gone as low as 50, but I have been doing mine in between 55 and 60. I ramp up after about 10 days to make sure it attenuates. Results are nice and smooth.

+1

Never that cold, but I definitely like that strain on the colder side. I don't start any higher than 63. Usually in the 58-60 range. 50 should be fine with enough patience. Taste it to determine if you'll need a D-rest. I've had mixed results which seem to be recipe related.

Like snowcapt I've gone down as low as 55 but never lower.

You should be good except for when it slows down, you might want to get some heat on there.
