I've never seen anything saying that would be necessary. The syrup is practically like honey which doesn't need anything other than shelf storage. Plus, the package is totally air tight and the sugar load is so high that not much of anything could grow in it anyways.
Might be a good idea to keep it out of the sun if it's the clear jars and not the soft pouches.
