Sugar for bottle carbing

I recently switched over to all-grain from extract kits. The batches I had done before were all the "Brewers Best" or other premeasured kits. Since doing that I seem to have an issue with getting the correct carbonation in my bottles. I use promash to tell me how much corn sugar to use. My question is how much water do I need to dissove the sugar in, and how long do I need to let it boil? Or is there something else that may be causing this, like waiting too long to bottle and letting yeast settle out. I usually ferment in primary only for 7 - 14 days, sometimes a few more but not usually.
Thanks!

A simple syrup (half sugar, half water) should be fine. It's unlikely that you dropped out enough yeast after 7-14 days to prevent your bottles from carbing properly. At what temp are you keeping the bottles and does it still taste sweet once you have some carbonation?

The bottles are in the 69f~73f range and as far as sweetness... maybe a little, but not much.

Are you measuring your sugar out by volume or by weight? If your not using weight that could be your problem.
I usually use a cup or so of water and boil for ten minutes.

I usually put a coffee filter on my digital scale and fill it up to my target Oz, gram, etc and fill a sauce pot with water and boil. It sounds like I'm doing about what you guys are doing... wonder what the problem could be.

Do you have this months copy of BYO? They have an artical about this in there. I haven't read it yet, but its something to look at.

Nope, but I'm trying to work out a plan to skip out early from work today and make a run to my LHBS. I'll pick it up if they have anymore of them.
Thanks!
