water filter effect on hardness

Fri May 26, 2006 12:02 pm

I think that I have very hard water; if I set some water out in a SS pot overnight, I get quite a bit of white precipitate at the bottom and around the rivets. Will an activated charcoal filter reduce this? Will anything reduce this?

Ware filtering will not removed the dissolved solids. Carbon filtering will remove a small amount of the chlorine unless your water is treated with chloramine.

How about getting a water report from your water board and posting it. It'll be much more definitive help.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
