I think I'm ready to do this. I'm at the point in my brewing evolution where water chemistry is the next logical step in improving my beers. One more question, what type of bottles did you use when submitting your samples?

I just sent in a post filtered sample. In retrospect, I wish I'd sent in a pre-filtered sample as well.

I called them first. They said just use a plain individual spring water bottle and rinse it out really well.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Thanks for the tip. Quick questions for you, first do you think I should add the Iron test? I’m on a well and we have red soil...
Also what do you think about the results? There does not seem to be very much of a difference. In hind sight, knowing these results would you spend the cash on a filter again?

With well water I would spend the extra on an iron test. The whole reason I got the filter was to get the chlorine out of my water. I was just curious how much if any minerals it was pulling out. I really didn't want to lose any if I could help it. I don't want to have to build my water from scratch. I would definatly get the filter again in my house with city water to get the chlorine out. On a well I might not. You may want to cut it with RO water tho if you have a lot of minerals.

Ya I have an RO/DI Hi-sillaca filter I used on a salt water reef tank, but that would mean I have to find out what each of the 4 filters did what function  . For some reason I thought you were on a well....

I have one of those too from my REEFER days. How many stages is it? If you have a pic of it I may be able to give you a quick answer as I pulled mine apart to make my carbon filter (only one I wanted.)

Short answer is that for RO water the only part you don't want is the Deionization portion, which is usually a plastic filter with purplish crystals in it. you can just take this out of the housing and leave that stage empty OR you can bypass it if you don't mind messing with the plumbing on the thing.
