Do I need keg lube when I rebuild with new gaskets? Is there an alternative in case I cannot find it locally?
Thanks!

You will get a better seal and NB sells it. I would go with CIP as it has a lower melting point and you can remove it with hot water.

Look towards the bottom of the page for the lube..
Just avoid KY...

If you have a dive shop nearby,
Silicone grease is the same stuff as keg lube, I think. Works just as well, anyway.

Thanks. I missed it on my big restock order (just getting settled in after a move from MD) and I will just order again from NB...thought I had everything.

I just went to Lowes here in town and picked up some plumbers grease. It was way more expensive that a tube of keg lube but it'll last a while.

At the kitchen I run, I decided that I needed to lube our meat slicer. So I ordered some food grade equipment grease from our food supplier (Sysco). At least that is story I gave my boss. Once it arrived, I "borrowed" a couple ounces for the brewery. I did lube the slicer once to make everything look legit. The point of the story is to check your local restaurant supplier (if you have one) or make friends at a restaurant kitchen and have them order you some on their next order. It will save paying more on shipping than on the lube itself.
