Beer Gun

Sun May 27, 2007 12:48 pm

Has anyone out there used one of these beer guns and if so your thoughts. I currently use a phils fill it works well but takes time to sanitize set up and clean. I hate bottling but I find it necessary for sending beer, for parties and long term storage. Looking for an easier solution.
Cheers Mike

I've been using one for over a year and I love the thing. The time to clean, sanitize and set up is probably not much different than the cpbf, but the filling process itself is much quicker and easier.

One thing I do that makes the process even easier is that I use a second CO2 bottle to hook to the beer gun instead of trying to use a tee off the kegerator bottle. This way I can independently control the pressures.

I will take that as a big thumbs up. Thanks Wayne.

Have you had issues with excessive foaming during operation?
A friend loaned me his for "improvements" for just that problem.
As far as i can tell, the foaming occurs due to the pressure drop when bottling.
I was thinking along the line of a rubber cork to achieve a (somewhat) airtightr seal.

thoughts?

I like my beer gun more than my cpbf. I dont have excessive foam. The important thing is to have the keg pressure at about 3 psi during filling. I also use a long, 8 foot, hose on the beverage line. Be sure to inject the co2 into the bottle and fill away. I dont bother chilling the bottles like Ive heard some do.
