my kegerator died last week, so i just bought the frigidare 8.8CF from lowes and have a johnson a419 arriving on wednesday. i plan on taking the lid off and making a new lid and 8 inch+ collar combo to allow 2 ball lock on-the-hump in addition to the 4-on-the-floor. i want to do it in oak, but hard to say if that could be done for less than my first born. will update as i get going on her..

Do an outside facade in oak and use a more inexpensive wood inside to save $$$.

Smart move measuring the size you need to put kegs on the hump. I did a 6" collar on mine and the lid wouldn't close (only missed by 1/2"). The collar wasn't very square anyways so I didn't mind trashing it. Now I have the 8" collar with 6 taps. My CF is 7.0 cu ft so you should have tons of room.

I've got a 15cu.ft & am mere cm away from getting an 8th one on the floor. I use the hump for a 5# CO2 bottle & bottle storage. Eventually I'm going to do a 20 or 50# tank externally & build a small shelf for the hump to double the bottle storage. My temporary collar is 2x4's with a 1x6 facade, but the end game plan is to build a new lid & a variation on an Irish coffin so I can enclose the front/sides. It also sits on a 5" tall platform with concealed casters & fans to move air over the freezer skin when it gets enclosed.
