1/2 Filled bottles can kill you!

I have bottled over 12 batches of beer. I have read all the great books out there. I have listened to about 3 years worth of BN archives and I had no idea it was dangerous. I remember hearing that under filled bottles tend to oxidize faster but no one told me the cap would blow off at terminal velocity. I had a 1/2 filled Duvel bottle with a nice 10 clone in it...I popped it open, it explode like a shotgun and my asshole almost did the same it scared me so much. The cap actually marked my ceiling which is 4-5 feet up and made of poured concrete. Very scary shit…if I had been over the bottle or if my GF had been opening it, there could have been a serious injury. Just wanted to share my almost shitty britches story with the army. Back to the mines…I have 2 batches to bottle and I gotta get this crème brulee clone in the secondary on the vanilla beans……work, work, work

I've certainly heard that partial fills will tend to overcarbonate (to do with the compression of gasses in the headspace vs soluble in the liquid and the ability of the yeast to keep going, as I recall...), but hadn't heard of any stories first hand.
