Yeah I'm retarded, but at least I'm with my like kind..

If I pitch sugar into a keg, any then attach a beer engine and simply open the blow-off valve, how close would i come to a real cask ale? Or just gravity feed it out?

From what I've read the #1 requirement is to be conditioned in the serving vessel. But after drinking a lot of cask ale I know it's not that simple. There seems to be some timing involved.

comments? anyone ever do this?

If I recall correctly, BYO had a column on this topic last spring. Not having attempted this myself, I can't speak to the advice given, but it might be a good place to start.
