What is your Keg pefference and WHY? Sound off!

Ball lock? Pin lock? Korney. old school. What make the best finished product? What is the easiest to work with? What is the cheapest to maintain? Is there a happy medium?

Considering commercial kegs can get up there in price and can be a rather pain in the ass to clean on a homebrew level, those wouldn't be a first choice. Between the remaining two which are essentially identical aside from the posts, I'd go with the ball lock over the pin lock. They're more readily available & if you convert all your pin lock corny's you only need one set of connectors for everything. It's pretty cheap to switch them over, as well as to keep them maintained.

Seem to recall someone on a show recently (JP and Tasty?) saying that ball lock supplies are getting harder to find, as more people prefer them over pin, and pin are what's more readily available these days. Even if that's true, it's gonna vary with location though, and as you said, easy to get adapters to convert the posts to ball. Have also heard of guys who will use ball for most of their beers, and use pin for sours or root beer that they don't want to cross the streams on...

I like ball lock but mostly because that was available when I was looking.

Who doesn't like crossing streams? Isn't that what those big ass bathtub urinals are for in backwoods bars?

I went ball lock for my setup, and mainly am glad I did because the PRV in the lid is quite nice, especially when purging the head space of o2. Other than that, doesn't seem to matter much.

I went with ball lock because that seemed to be the keg of choice when I started kegging. I am not opposed to pin lock but I'm not sure if they would work in my current setup. If I remember, pin lock kegs are a little wider and my 4 ball locks fit in my kegerator very tight.
