dry hopping in keg

Has anyone tried dry hopping with one of those stainless steel ball mesh things? If so, how much do you typically use?

I have never dry hopped in a keg, how much is typical?

I would think they would work pretty well. I saw somewhere in another forum a while back that one guy did something like that and left it in the keg when he hooked up his kegerator.
My advice, buy one, try it, and let the other members know your results. Basically the same as using a hop bag, but with stainless, and who doesnt love stainless;)

I dry hop in the keg now and then. Usually about an ounce will do, but it all depends on how intense you want it to be and what hop you use.

Instead of that big tea ball, I use a knee high nylon stocking. I find them over at WalMart for 3 pair for $1. At seventeen cents each, I figure I can afford to toss them in the trash rather than try to clean them out after a dry hop session.

I sanitize the stocking with some starsan and then fill it with hops and a couple SS fittings for some weight. I tie it off with some dental floss and tie the other end to the handle of the keg. The lid will seal over the dental floss just fine.

I have a trick I learned for filling a wet stocking with hops. Cut the bottom out of a 2 liter bottle and line the inside with the stocking pulling the top over the edges of the bottle to hold it open.

I use the tea ball thing and it will hold up to 2oz of pellet dry hops and works great. I have drilled a small hole in my gas dip tube and I hang it from that. I have heard of others hanging it with dental floss and tieing it off outside of the keg. Since the floss is so small the keg lid seals fine with it.

I love it, it hangs down a ways into the beer and about the time that it needs to be pulled I have drank enough that it no longer comes in contact with the beer. Then I eventually pull it out when i get a chance. It really works slick.
