What kind of connectors does my soda cannister have?

Sat Oct 29, 2005 7:01 pm

I managed to get my hands on an old soda cannister (5 gals, used to have Dr. Pepper in it), and I'd like to get the draft system to go with it.

How do I tell what type of connector it takes?

As far as I know, Dr. Pepper can be handled by either Coke or Pepsi in a region, depending on whoever landed the contract. Also, generally Coke uses a pin lock, whereas Pepsi uses a ball lock setup.

Is there any print on the keg saying if it's Coke or Pepsi or Cornelius or some other brand?

Maybe there is a Dr. Pepper labeled keg, in which case I honestly don't have a clue. Other people may be of more help, seeing as they can ask you more relevant questions or just have more knowledge on the matter in general.

Hope this helps at least a little bit though.

The pictures were a great help. It's a ball lock. Thanks!

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
