Ranco controller and thermal paste

I'm using my new HERMS for the first time today and I'm running into a slight issue with my temperature controller. It's reading a few degrees lower than the other two inline thermometers and my thermocouple. The controller is reading 149 while the others as 152.

There is a bit of play in the thermowell for the temperature sensor. I think that's causing the difference. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking about getting some thermal conductive paste to eliminate the play and help with heat transfer.

I'm going to test my Ranco to see if it's accurate when I'm done with my brew day. Does anyone know if you can calibrate a Ranco?
