Stuck Nylon Washers

Does anyone have a good method for removing nylon washers when they get stuck in flare fittings?
My usual routine is to first soak in PBW, then shake the crap out of it, while it's still in the solution. When that doesn't work, I try to pry it out with something not too destructive, like a bamboo chop stick or skewer. Once I've splintered the cop stick to hell, I resort to a fork or steel skewer, which inevitably destroys the washer.
Who has a better way?
