Bleach?

So, I'm working on getting caught up on my brewcaster shows on the archives, and I was listening to a show where someone sent in a beer, and all the "judges" said they could taste the bleach, and to switch to star san.

We've been using bleach for over a year, and I don't feel like any of it is getting into the beer. At least we can't taste anything. We've been soaking the carboys in a bleach solution for a few hours, dumping, and rinsing with some sterile water a few times.

Is there really any difference?

the thing with bleach is it is only a cleaner its not that good as a sanitizer as you have to rince it out, try get your hands on some Phos Acid

the money you save in water trying to rince all the bleach off will more than pay for some no-rince sanitizer

Mostly it's just a PITA to use bleach and do it right. Star San or Idofor are no rinse and will save a lot of time and effort.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
