I think I see the problem. Your drawing shows the false bottom sitting on a concave tun bottom with a dip tube. You can't put a fitting in the sidewall that's below the false bottom. My rig is a converted stock pot, but I'd have trouble getting a tube connector below the false bottom too. I dunno.

If the "T" is in the outlet, even before the valve, I think there will be a slight effect. It may not be significant, but if we don't address it somebody's going to get their nose out of joint and call BS on the article.
