cleaning aquarium heaters

Sun Dec 10, 2006 1:41 pm

Just a tip for those using aquarium heaters to maintain fermentation temps.

Be very careful when cleaning them !

Was claening one of mine and it clipped the edge of the table. Cracked the bloody thing and have had to chuck it out.

And I was in the middle of a brew session. Luckily, its pretty warm at the moment so I can get away with not using the heater this time.

So, just be very careful when handling glass stuff, especially thin glass stuff. And be really really careful if you hit the glass because it may break in the future unexpectedly. Glass can develop microfractures that you can't see, yet a light tap in the future causes the whole thing to break when you least expect it, or want it to.

Thus endeth today's safety lesson.
