Has anyone tried to make their own version of a glycol cooler? I was thinking about trying to make my own for my future conical fermenters.

Wow this is a fun thread! After reading all the way through it I recall building my own project and this lights the candle to do more in that area. It is really fun when as a regular joe , not a licensed pro in that field, you can pull together a project and have a tangeble effect on the things that you actually enjoy. Like me I built my own fridge boy, that was a fun project. It's still working strong five years later.
