The new system !! This was taken before I got a chance to use it. I think it was the day after the paint dried. It is made from 1 1/2 steel squair tubing 3/64th thick and all MIG Welded. My first welding project! Easy to move yet strong enough to stand on. I dont think its the best but it works for me.
I did change the mash and HLT burners since this was taken thanks to Code.
Thanks again.

Here's my new rig. I've been working on it for a few months, off and on. Broke it in on Saturday for Big Brew:

OOOOhhhhhh Plumbing..... if you don't mind typing your fingers off could you do a schematic or put numbers on your plumbing picture and explain the logic?... I think I have most of it but kinda curious on some parts.

Sure, I’ll try to explain it. To make sure we’re on the same page, the vessels from left to right are the HLT, Mash Tun, and Kettle. The left pump I’ll call Pump 1 and the right pump is Pump 2. Click here to see the picture my description refers to.

Pump 1 takes a suction from the bottom of the HLT and pumps to the top of the Mash Tun.

Pump 2 has 3 main pumping paths. First, it takes a suction from the bottom of the MT and pumps back into the top of the MT for recirc. Second, it takes a suction from the MT and pumps into the top of the kettle during the sparge. Third, it takes a suction from the bottom of the kettle and pumps through my counter flow chiller (not pictured). The chiller hooks up to the quick disconnects on the right side of the picture. The beer-in end of the chiller connects to the bottom QD. From the chiller I can go directly into carboys, or I can connect the beer out end of the chiller to the top QD and go back into the top of the kettle (for whirlpooling).

Several other pumping paths are possible, which are handy for cleaning. I can pump hot water or PBW through any path in the system. There are also drain valves on the suction side of both pumps.

Any more questions, let me know.

Muddball whats the huge firework sticking out of your mashtun for?

Does it fire off when you sparge, to give thanks to the beer gods?

Hey Muddball,

Where did you find the Unistrut's. I have seen those used before, but can't find a supplier.

Thanks,

JC

I got the strut at Home Depot, in the electrical section near the conduit. The brand name is Superstrut.
