I use Rahr 2-row pretty much exclusively, unless a recipe really demands another base malt....usually this is something very British, and the base malt is Maris Otter. The Rahr mills and mashes quite well, usually hitting exactly the expected OG for the recipe. And the finished beers are pretty good, too, if I do say so who shouldn't.....

I use Briess, because my store carries 50lb pre-milled bags. They price them the same because store dude doesn't want to mill 50lb of grain for me before the club meeting. Added benefit: very consistent crush. Con: does not seem to have as much flavor as Rahr and others, but I can adjust recipe for that.
