Fermentation cooler idea

howdy folks,

I was researching some ideas about how best keep my glass carboy cool during summer fermenation sessions. I read about the towel/shirt/chamois wraps, but seems like that wouldn't cool too well. My place is around 80-85 in the summer, and I don't have AC where I keep my brewing stuff. I came across this pretty cool article:

Has anyone done anything like this? Any luck?
Thanks
John.

I've head of that done a few different times & working pretty well. I've also seen it for serving a corny keg at an outting, the top sticks out a bit but since you're pulling from the bottom it doesn't really matter too much. Never tried it though.

Don't discount the wet towel before you try it, though. The trick is to have a fan blowing on it. You might be surprised how effective it is.

And have it in a tub of some sort with a few inches of standing water to keep it wicking up as it evaporates off. Still would want to wet it down if the temp gets above where it should be. This is how I control my temps currently.
