My Autolysis/R.I.S. Experiment...

I did my first Parigyle brew day on 1/15/2011. I brewed a R.I.S. and a Milk Stout with the left overs. I did the normal 4-6 weeks primary for the Milk stout, which was very tasty. As far as the R.I.S. went, I figured, screw it. I'm going to let this beer sit in the primary for as long as I can take it. I just kegged it tonight.
I started with an O.G. of 1.106, and the F.G. was 1.032. Not bad considering all the issues I had with the mash (that's a whoooooole other thread that I'd like to keep in the past.) Anywho, the hydrometer reading tasted like a R.I.S. should. Yes it had hot fusel alcohol present, and to tell you the truth, I have never brewed one that didn't. I have tasted commercial examples that don't have that hot alcohol taste, but then again, they aren't anywhere near 10% alcohol either. I am hoping to get a better feel for this autolysis experiment after this beer is carbed, but so far, I say no to the autolysis. Then again, it's not like I did this experiment with a Kolsch or a Pilsner. If any beer could go through 9 months in a primary, I am willing to bet that a 10% R.I.S. could. I'll repost later this weekend with a carbed taste test.
