So after having made 85 or more starters as directed by Mr. Malty I have never checked the OG 's on them, not sure why, just never did.
As per the site, I mix DME and water at a 10:1 ratio and boil for 10 minutes.
Took an OG yesterday for the first time, sure enough, OG 1.030.
