Siwelward is right- the whole cake would be overdoing it. Rinsing your yeast per Jamil will remove trub and hop matter from the yeast cake so you don't repitch it. I never seem to have the energy to prepare sterile jars and sterile water though. Here's what I do and it works for me.
Taste the blonde to confirm it's absolutely clean. Any off flavors at all- don't repitch. If you're certain it's clean, leave a couple of quarts of beer in the fermenter, swirl to suspend the yeast, flame or spray star-san on the openings of the carboys and pour about half of that into your IPA in a clean fermenter. Should be about right.
