Reusing yeast

I have a quick question.. I have a blonde ale ready to keg and am going to brew an IPA that will use the same strain of yeast that same day, is it fine to use the yeast cake from the blonde and put the cooled wort right into the fermentor that the blonde ale was in or is there another process that would be better to reuse that same yeast that same day?

You are better off using a clean fermenter and pitching some of the yeast cake (if you use all of it, you will almost certainly be overpitching). Also, doing a search for "yeast washing" will turn up good info.

Siwelward is right- the whole cake would be overdoing it. Rinsing your yeast per Jamil will remove trub and hop matter from the yeast cake so you don't repitch it. I never seem to have the energy to prepare sterile jars and sterile water though. Here's what I do and it works for me.

Taste the blonde to confirm it's absolutely clean. Any off flavors at all- don't repitch. If you're certain it's clean, leave a couple of quarts of beer in the fermenter, swirl to suspend the yeast, flame or spray star-san on the openings of the carboys and pour about half of that into your IPA in a clean fermenter. Should be about right.

Not that this is a super accurate way of measuring the proper amount of yeast/trub for repitching, but I think you would be fine with repitching about 1.5-2 full cups of yeast/trub into your IPA depending on OG. Not the best case scenario for repitching with trub intact, but I have done it MANY times will no noticeable ill effects.

Ive done it multiple times, right in the fermenter :jnj

It may not be the best practice but....it will get the job done.

I´ve reused yeast many time, a pour the slurry into a glass, let it seat so the yeast will go to the botton and beer will be over it. On the brew day, I will every generation or so, acid wash it and use the Jamil calculator to estimate how much slurry to use, but I will always use a little more, as it is much easier to under pitch then to over pitch.
