Never used brett before and was thinking of using it soon. Do you also need to use seperate equipment with brett as you would with lacto? Also whats an average ferm time with brett? Wks or months?

I am using Brett for the first time on Saturday. With my research:

Anything plastic you want to use separate
Stainless fittings are ok just wash with HOT water and PBW. I plan to boil the parts after I washed them.
Separate Carboy for fermenting

For fermentation time on an average is 3-6 months (Based on Wyeast 5526 Brettanomyces Lambicus description), could be longer. I would taste the beer an judge the beer based on your taste. The longer you let the bugs work, you will get more sourness in the beer. Also fermentation temp plays a big part as well. Hotter temps produce more harsh sour notes.

All this info I got from BN podcasts, they have a number of them on sour beers. Good luck with your sour and cheers!

it does depend on the strain a bit, and remember some of the characteristics change over time. were yiu doing 100% brett(no bacteria and no saccromyces.) As far as cleaning, if you clean well, heat and proper chemicals you should be fine. I actually was told by a very respected BJCP/AHA figure that with proper sanitation there isn't much need to separate you gear, that being said though I don't trust myself.
