Wyeast arrived inflated???

Unpacked a smack pack today and it was already puffed up. Any reason to worry about it?

Where was it coming from and when are you going to use it? At least you know the yeast were viable at one point. I would definately make a starter though.

No reason to worry, it just got bounced around in shipment. If it were leaking or had burn marks on it, then I would worry.

Nothing to worry about. They simply saved you some time.
If you were gonna use it next week, I'd say throw it in the fridge. Either way, you should make a starter.

I have heard that when they get packaged they may still have some fermentables in the storage medium left over.
