Fining in Cider ?

Sun Apr 03, 2011 6:53 am

Can I use a fining like gelatain in a cider ? I did a cider using store bought apple juice. It's down to 1013 now and kind of murky. I know if I let is set for a while it'll probably clear up but I was wondering about using a fining agent. Never heard of it with cider before .

I've put biofine in cider. I've put KC Super Kleer in cider. But I find that gelatin works best in cider.

This won't be of use for this batch, but in the future just add a bit of pectic enzyme when you start fermentation. Since I started using it, my ciders have been much more clear.
