barrel preperation/stabilization

Sat Feb 05, 2011 10:23 am

I picked up a Lost Abbey Angel's Share Brandy barrel yesterday (empty!)

They drained them earlier this week and it is now sitting in my back yard full of water.

Some guys in the club are telling me I need to "sterilization solution for wood barrels to add to the water" but they don't have any information other than that.

I've found a product called Barrolkleen at some homebrew sites, but they say not to use it until 48 hours before you plan on filling it.

Anyone have specifics on what I should do? I don't think the club's going to be ready to fill it for a couple months.

Thanks

Matt
