white film on top of jug

I had extra ale left over from filling my keg and decided to wood chip it. It was a harvest ale that i had alittle over 1/2 gallon left over so I took some wood chips and tossed them in the jug with the liquid. About a week later I looked at the jug and there is a layer of white film on the top. What the hell is this, can this be saved and drank or should I just scrap it.
Any insight please

Sounds to me like you have a thin pellicle forming. Most likely caused by wild yeast. did you sanitize the wood chips at all?

You know I can't remember. I think I did out of habit, but who knows late in the day.
Maybe I have a sour beer going!

Yeah, don't chalk it up yet. Let it go for a while and give it a taste after a few mos to see what you got. ditch it if it starts to look moldy, green, or black on top.
