Crust during Primary

Tue Jun 29, 2010 4:27 am

OK, So I am relatively new to all of this, but the krusen is the shit that forms at the top of the beer during primary right? If so, should I remove it or will it not affect the beer?

Cheers

I love this guy already.

Don't worry about the shit, it'll drop out as the ferment slows down.

Yeah, it's just the krausen but the more you become an experienced brewer, the more you will learn how to separate your trub from the beer before primary and the less your krausen will look like shit. It will look like good, creamy yeast with just a little shit. It won't hurt your beer now, but it's a goal to have for the future.
