Inadvertent Belgian?

Wed May 26, 2010 8:02 pm

I brewed up a quick extract blond ale, from a more beer kit. Crash cooled it and am now kegging. It started at 1.050 and finished at 1.010. All seems normal. Though it smells a little funky and tastes a bit sour. It honestly tastes like a belgian blond. I've never had an infected beer, my protocols are pretty solid, though I suppose accidents happen.
Is this a happy accident? Should I serve it as a belgian blond? Can it make people sick? Is this a horrible idea? Should I drink a pint and see what happens?
I intend to serve it at a friends wedding, it would suck to kill everyone off.

well one of the great things about beer is that no human pathogens can live in it, so I wouldn't worry about killing anyone or making them sick. If it tastes good as a Belgian Blonde I would serve it as such.
