Dry hopping a lager?

So I raised the temp on my Ranco to bring the temp my IPL up to do the diacetyl rest. I'm going to transfer it on Friday into secondary off the yeast and plan to dry hop it for about 10 days before I lager it.

I was going to secondary at the same temp I fermented at, 51, but a friend brought up the idea that the hop oils won't release at 51 degrees like they would at 68 or so on an ale.

so, any thoughts on this?

They will release, but just slower. Lots of breweries dry hop cold.

Supposing we dry hop a lager at 51F. How long should we dry hop?

The dry hop characteristics will be slightly different at different temps. 60 is a good temp.. maybe shoot for that for 7-10 days. Kind of in between. If you do dry hop in the low 50's, I still wouldn't go over 14 days personally.

mmm... save some beer for me btw.
