OK, so IF you ever needed to secondary (e.g. dry-hopping, sour beer)...what's your vessel of choice? Just racked into 2-kegs and am not sure they are the best tool for the job (of course, I did over-fill slightly and reactivate a ferment which went out the fermentation lock I have on the "IN" post")

Do you have carboys too or did you switch to all Better Bottles? I am thinking about 6-gallon ones if I do not have to buy too many accessories to work them into my fermentations. I have 2-6.5 gallon carboys, 1-5 gallon carboy and a bunch of smaller one (some 3 and 3.5 gallon ones.)

I like Better Bottles for secondary as well, but the cornies work OK too. I've been out of carboys and done the cornie thing. If you do buy Better Bottles, I definately recommend the 6 gallon. Not too sure I would get the spigot. It is very pricey. I have one, but have not bit the bullet on the other Better Bottles I have. The auto-spihon works fine. I try to save my glass carboys for the primary so that I can flame the top when harvesting yeast. Just started doing that.

Hey thanks. How tall are the 6-gal bottles and do they accept normal 5-gal orange carboy hoods?

i use a corny keg. it makes transferring so much easier. when i dry hop, i add loose pellets. when time comes to transfer, i remove the poppet and pin from from the qd to avoid any clogs. purge the line until it is clear of hop material and then hook the loose end up to the serving tank.

I have two 5gal. carboys for secondary, two 6.5 carboys for primary, and two morebeer buckets for whatever. I like my glass though. I've had one of the 5's and one of the 6.5's since '99 and no problems with them.

Make no mistake, I like my glass....just looking for good secondary options...I have a Belgian aging on my one 5-gal secondary on Orval dregs and have always needed a couple extra secondaries. I am not crazy about kegs for secondary because they are not quite big enough for me.
Leaing towards 2 6-gallon better bottles if they will fit in my freezer with fermentation locks on top (also a challenge with my cornies).
